Borough of Fort Lee Municipal Court

Fort Lee’s Municipal Court is located in the Fort Lee Borough Hall. Court sessions are held in the Council Chamber, in Room 106 on the first floor. The court hears matters regarding motor vehicle and traffic tickets, minor criminal or quasi-criminal offenses, violations of municipal ordinances and other minor violations. Occasionally, more serious charges may originate in the Fort Lee Municipal Court and be transferred to the Bergen County Superior Court.

Fort Lee Municipal Court Charges

Some municipal court charges require your appearance in court, while others do not. Locate the “Court Appearance Required” box on your ticket or summons to determine whether you must appear. Bear in mind, that when you choose to pay a fine rather than appear in court, you are entering a guilty plea and forsaking your right to a trial and an attorney. In addition to monetary penalties, this plea can also lead to points against your driver’s license, which can negatively impact your auto insurance costs.
