Township of Teaneck Municipal Court

The Teaneck Township Municipal Court is located in the town Municipal Building. The Court Office and Violations Bureau is available via window service only, Monday through Thursday, from 8:00 am to 5:15 pm. Court sessions are held in the Council Chambers. The court handles Teaneck traffic violations and city ordinance violations, as well as disorderly and petty disorderly persons offenses. Criminal violations and other more serious offenses may be processed here initially, but then sent to the Bergen County Prosecutor in Hackensack for further action.

Teaneck Township Municipal Court Charges

Some common charges in this court include traffic violations, DUI, shoplifting, petty theft, harassment, simple assault, and zoning violations. Disorderly persons offenses can carry a fine of up to $1,000, and even jail time up to six months. The township’s municipal court holds court sessions four days a week, which is fairly busy for a municipal court. The court hears an average of 125 traffic and DUI matters and 15 disorderly persons charges each week.
