Ridgewood, NJ Municipal Court and Traffic Ticket Law Firm

ridgewood municipal courtMany people believe are under the mistaken belief that New Jersey Municipal Court offenses aren’t serious and don’t carry real consequences like crimes in the NJ Superior Court. This assumption can have dire consequences when you choose to simply plead guilty or defend yourself in Municipal Court. Convictions for DUI/DWI, Refusal and Reckless Driving can lead to license revocation, expensive fines and possible jail time. Criminal charges in the NJ municipal courts can carry other serious penalties, including up to six months in jail. The Reinartz Law Firm is experienced in providing effective legal counsel for municipal and traffic court offenses, and will fight to safeguard your freedom and your rights.

The Village of Ridgewood Municipal Court

The Ridgewood municipal court is located in Village Hall, and court sessions are held in the Ridgewood Village Hall Courtroom. Money Magazine ranked Ridgewood #15 in its 2013 list of 25 top-earning U.S. towns. Though the Village is a very affluent area with a population of only around 25,000 residents, crime is still present and the court’s caseload necessitates a full-time judge, rather than sharing with another municipality, as has been proposed in the past. The court’s website provides forms for entering a not guilty plea, and to enter a plea by mail in certain matters. Ridgewood’s municipal court handles traffic violations, ordinance violations and criminal disorderly persons offenses. Examples of types of cases handled by the court are DUI/DWI, careless driving, driving while suspended, driving without insurance, underage drinking, petty theft, domestic violence, simple assault, battery, and health violations.
